Coronavirus Economic Relief for People with Disabilities Becoming More Unlikely

September 17, 2020

Negotiations for New Stimulus Bill Stalled in Senate

As reported in June, the HEROES Act which aims to provide economic relief to the disability community was passed out of the House of Representatives. Sadly, as predicted, the related coronavirus relief legislation has stalled in the Senate. Which leaves individuals with disabilities concerned that their economic hardships will be overlooked again as experienced with the CARES Act last March. With only a few weeks left before lawmakers go on recess prior to the November election, the situation to pass a federal economic relief bill has become dire. Unfortunately, hope for additional federal funding for the disability community is fading.
