- The CDC has launched a COVID-19 resource link for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The link contains a toolkit which includes social stories, videos, posters and interactive activities that focus on topics related to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Fall MAPS Conference is now taking registrations. The conference is targeted to healthcare professionals and clinic providers. It will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2021 in Scottsdale, Arizona. There is also a livestream option.
- New Italian research shows that individuals with ASD receive the same types of treatments for anorexia nervosa as neurotypical people. The study’s results demonstrate that autism traits do not impact treatment intensity and outcomes. However, the researchers call for more study into the topic.
- A helpful new article provides ten simple tips for managing young women with autism through their menstrual cycles. The article advises that becoming familiar with these suggestions before menstruation starts provides the most benefit.
- OCALICON will be holding their national conference on November 16-19, 2021. The conference will be held exclusively online and is now taking registrations. OCALICON brings people together from around the world to learn, network, and share research, best practices and resources to support the life-long needs of individuals with disabilities, including autism.
