- Researchers at the University of Virginia are investigating how autism manifests differently in boys and girls. They have found that autism-related behaviors in boys and girls are the result of different genetic variations and brain functions.
- A new study shows that adults with autism are more likely to report a broad range of sexuality. In the survey of nearly 2400 adults, researchers found that individuals with autism were three to nine times more likely to identify as homosexual, asexual or “other.”
- A new unpublished report shows that siblings may help individuals with autism manage their daily lives. Specifically, the report points out that siblings can assist their brothers and sisters by influencing their theory-of-mind abilities, social skills and adaptive functioning.
- Not everyone was impressed with Elon Musk’s Asperger’s admission on Saturday Night Live. Sara Luterman who writes for Slate is also on the spectrum. She regarded Musk’s “coming out” as, “self-serving and hollow, a poor attempt at laundering his image as a heartless billionaire more concerned with cryptocurrency and rocket ships than the lives of others.”
