Almost half of all children with autism wander from safe settings, often with tragic consequences. More than one-third of children with autism who wander are never or rarely able to communicate their name, address, or phone number. Law enforcement and families facing autism need proper training to prevent and respond to this complex issue, since safe minds need safe bodies.
